Welcome to the Berkshire East JSNA

This website brings together a library of resources to help assess the health, care and wellbeing needs of communities across Berkshire East and inform local decision making.

This JSNA website has been created by the Berkshire East Public Health Hub, in partnership with the three Berkshire East local authorities – Bracknell Forest Council, Slough Borough Council and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM). Local health colleagues from Frimley Health Integrated Care Board (ICB) have also supported the JSNA process and provided information where possible.

The website provides a library of up-to-date and relevant information about Berkshire East’s population and their health and wellbeing. This includes People and Place Summaries for each of the local authority areas, as well as more detailed topic packs and health needs assessments that focus on specific areas.

In addition to the resources included on this website, there are also links to relevant research,  national guidance and more detailed datasets that are available elsewhere. You can find these listed under the relevant topic areas by navigating to the topic you are interested in. Real-time data on a large number of topics are also available on the Berkshire Observatory website.

The Berkshire East JSNA will be continually updated and developed, based on the priorities agreed by the local authorities. If you are aware of any information or resources that you think should be included on the website, please do contact us.

What is a JSNA?

JSNA stands for Joint Strategic Needs Assessment. It is a statutory process by which local authorities and health services work together to assess the current and future health, care and wellbeing needs of the local population to inform local decision making. Decision making can be anything from planning or commissioning services for a specific community to determining overarching priorities for Health and Wellbeing Strategies.

The main goal of the JSNA is to improve people’s health and wellbeing by ensuring local needs and priorities are identified, while helping to reduce the inequality gap between different groups in the local community.
