Inclusion Health and Inequality Groups:

Homelessness

Homelessness is often viewed as an economic and social issue, but housing instability harms health both directly and indirectly by causing stress. Individuals experiencing homelessness are more likely to have chronic physical and mental health conditions.

Homelessness is associated with poor health, education and social outcomes, particularly for children. It is often as a result of a combination of events such as relationship breakdown, debt, adverse experiences in childhood and through ill health.
