Population (and Migration)
Understanding the population of an area is key for all forms of planning and underpins most other datasets included in the JSNA. The demographics of a population (such as age, gender and ethnicity) will impact on the type and level of health and wellbeing needs.
Levels of migration are another aspect that impact on the health of a local population, both for migrants and host communities.
The 2021 national census information helps to provide a detailed understanding of the local population demographics. Census 2021 data, published by the Office for National Statistics, has been collated together under the overarching topic: Census 2021, or in the resource sections by topic. The Berkshire Observatory also includes 2021 Census data and is updated when new information is made available.
