Respiratory Disease
Respiratory diseases (those affecting the airways and lungs) are diagnosed in 1 in 5 people and are the third leading cause of death in the UK. They are also a major driver of health inequalities, as much of this disease is largely preventable. In this section you can find information on the prevalence of respiratory diseases, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, as well as mortality rates.

The 2nd Atlas of variation in risk factors and healthcare for respiratory disease in England (Public Health England and Right Care, 2019)
The 2nd Atlas contains many new indicators and some updates from the NHS Atlas of Variation in Healthcare for People with Respiratory Disease: 2012. The data is presented in a new format showing a map of geographical variation for each indicator’s range of values and an accompanying map showing the statistical significance of this variation from the England value.
